Recognizing Bodies

Mindful Defense ~ Compassionate Offense

Kyoshi Carter is a Ordained Buddhist and Minister. He has spent 12 plus years training this mind and filling his heart full of compassion and openness for all. He has studied how compassion is entwined in self defense as much as it is the fabric of life. This can be seen in his teachings and in his art of Nying Bulam. The name alone “Nying Bulam” is Tibetan for Compassionate Excellence. A student will not only learn how to utilize their bodies in the use of defending themselves but they will also learn how to adopt and utilize their minds and hearts as well; self defense in not only about defending yourself from an attacker, but also defending that attacker from himself. So students will learn how to identify dangerous situations, and how to make spontaneous intelligent decisions on the proper type of action such as avoid the situation, calm the situation, defend oneself or even flee the situation. Every defensive situation is different, just like the people involved, so a cookie cutter reaction is not always the best.

Merit of Compassion
by Nyingje Norbu

By this merit of compassion
May it compel others to compassion
And to others the same
Leading all to freedom of enlightenment
By opening their own Buddha nature
And to truly see
Unbridled compassion to all

This blessing / mantra and is a gift to two great Men/Bodhisattvas’ that
have made a profound impact on my life.
